How to Troubleshoot the Wind-up Music Box

The main component of the music box is the movement, which is mechanical. However, like any mechanical product, there may be uncertain factors that can lead to functional failure during use. If any issues arise, refer to our troubleshooting video for assistance.

Before you begin troubleshooting, make sure you are prepared: Music Box, Cross Point Screwdriver M3.0, Cross Point Screwdriver M6.0, a new movement (If needed).

If the music box doesn't play after winding the key, tap it gently. If this method does not work, use the Screwdriver 6.0 to loosen the bottom two screws slowly.

If the above steps are useless, we conclude that the movement is faulty.

Step 1:

Please turn the switch to the 'ON' position.

Step 2:

lease use the Screwdriver M3.0 to tighten the three small gold screws located at the bottom.

To avoid breaking the screw, please gently and slowly remove it. Pick up the 'key' and pull up the bottom.

The base plate is constructed from 3mm thick medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or Basswood. Using solid wood of the same thickness would result in deformation due to temperature and humidity variations. Consequently, using MDF or Basswood is a more suitable option.

Step 3:

Begin by unscrewing the screws under the Rotating Device on the movement with a M6.0 screwdriver. Then unscrewing the screws above the Rotating Device on the movement with the M3.0 screwdriver.

Please remove the rotating device and set it aside. Turn the base over, then use the M6.0 screwdriver to unscrew the screws at the bottom of the movement. Next, remove the key from the movement by turning it counterclockwise by hand. Finally, remove the broken movement.

Step 4:

Install the new movement. If you successfully activate the warranty for the movement, we will send you a replacement at no additional cost, which will be tuned to your specifications as indicated in your order. Secure the bottom board and the movement with the removed screws first.

Use the Screwdriver M6.0 to remove the screw from the movement.

Then tighten the rotating device to the movement. The gear on the Rotating Device must engage with the gear on the Movement.

Use the Screwdriver 3.0 to secure the top screws first. Then use the Screwdriver 6.0 to secure the screw bottom that you just removed.

Finally, tighten it again, but not too tightly. Screw on the Key clockwise. Then, wind the clockwork several times to test whether the Rotating Device functions normally and whether the movement plays music correctly.

Step 5:

Put the bottom board back together. Note: When fixing the screw, it should be properly tightened; do not overtighten it to the point of breaking. Finally, let's test to check if the music box is functioning properly.
